THE MIDLANDS PEACE CAMPAIGN - MINUTES OF A MEETING
HELD ON THE 23RD JANUARY 2001

ATTENDANCE: 37 as per register.  
DEVOTIONS: Gill Behr read from Philippians 2:7

We, filled with the Spirit can also do things just as Jesus did.

REPORT BACK:

Ground Planning (Brett Cavanagh)

The Rugby Club has given the okay to use their grounds.

Ten chemical toilets are being organised.

Tent and Seating (Bev Hill reported on behalf of Steven Frank) Tent is available at R30 000 - no chairs - takes 5 days to erect and we have to arrange transport to fetch and return. It was suggested we go in faith with no tent - cost was adding a dampener to the campaign.

 
 

Prayer and Follow-Up (Florence Eden) Combined Church Prayer Meetings would be held weekly from the 18th February at the NG Kerk at 3 p.m.

Individual churches that have specific prayer meetings for the campaign are as follows:

Methodist and N.G. Kerk on Sundays

Midlands Christian Centre on Mondays

Harvestime Tabernacle on Tuesdays

Hervormde Kerk daily

Prayer and Fasting would be started on 1st February - each church would be given a roster.

Prayer marches would be held on 18th March.

Prayer walk at Lambert Park would be held on 19th March.

Each church to provide helpers to fill in commitment forms.

Shalom to be contacted regarding format.

Dalene in Pretoria from "Every Home for Christ" phoned regarding booklets (tracts) - they are willing to send us booklets to be handed out to those responding to the Altar Calls. They are to be contacted further.

Music (Annemarie Rohrs) Team almost complete. Pleased to have Johan Roux as lead singer (will travel from Centurion for campaign).

Still needing choirs to sing - only one so far - organised by Stephen from the Catholic Church in Wembezi.

 
 

Campaigning (Annemarie Rohrs) Wiseman Jiyane from Ladysmith is willing to come and speak to workers in businesses and factories.

 
 

Farmers (Shaun Renton) Contacted Mike Driver from Weenen - willing to send in truck with workers.

There would be a meeting with farmers in Lowlands on 24th January.

Farmers' Association still to be contacted.

Advertising (Ian Wood) Meetings every Tuesday.

1500 Flyers have been sent to Wembezi for distribution.

Intend making 500 posters and 35 banners.

10th and 17th March Shalom Youth Group will come to assist with putting up of banners, posters etc. and to distribute Flyers.

Need help from people in surrounding towns putting up posters (and taking them down after the campaign) - names to be given to Ian please - phone 036-3522651

Ushers (Owen Moor) Each church to get a group together and send a representative LEADERS to be on a committee.

 
 

Security (Peter Keartland - & Staff) Guards will be provided - will need to organise accommodation, toilets etc.

Ken Woodley sent letter for sponsorship for fuel - 10 000 litres will be donated.
