THE ANGUS BUCHAN PEACE CAMPAIGN - MINUTES OF A MEETING
HELD ON 31ST OCTOBER 2000 AT 6:00PM

ITEM: BODY: ACTION:
ATTENDANCE: Forty-six people of various denominations signed in.

APOLOGIES: Eddie Loubser, Doreen Elliott, Tom and Ada McEwan, Eijvind and Charline Vlok, Pat and Gary Michelle, Barry Symons

DEVOTIONS: By Richard Mark
(Mark 2:3, John 1:41, John 1:45, James 5:20, Galatians 6:9)
We want to see Estcourt saved - God will save !!!!

SERVICES: First night at Wembezi. The following four would be at Lambert Park.
The various churches would cancel their Sunday Service so as to all combine at Lambert Park.
To prevent burn-out, Angus has been advised by his team to cancel a service in Estcourt which was previously arranged for the 10th December 2000.

BOOKS: Angus had given copies of his "Faith Like Potatoes" to various people at the first meeting.
These needed to be circulated as much as possible so that everyone has an opportunity of reading this wonderful story of faith.

MEETINGS: It was decided that "open" meetings would be held monthly - all were encouraged to bring someone with them to the next meeting.
The various portfolios will have their own meetings as they deem necessary.

NEW STEERING
COMMITTEES:
Finance and Fundraising - Wyan Moolman

Fuel Sponsorship - Bernard Kriel

Factories - Willie du Toit (Ken Woodley, Peter Sookwandan, Deon Roussouw)

REPORT BACK:

Ground Planning / Toilets / Lighting and Electrical (Richard Mark)
Brett Cavanagh to let us know what is needed - portable toilets etc.

Fuel Sponsorship (Bernard Kriel) to combine with
Transport (Alec Rohrs)
With the price of fuel it would be a bit much to expect taxi and bus owners to donate all the fuel. They are to be approached in this regard.

Tent and Seating (Pastor Steven Frank)
Angus is aiming at reaching 20 000 people "a night" and not "overall", therefore a 20 000 seater tent would be needed and not a 5 000 seater !!!
Pastor Frank was going to Durban on the 1st November and would look into this.

Prayer and Follow-Up (Florence Eden)
The Ministers had all been contacted to recommend names of their prayer leaders, who would arrange their own prayer teams.
All churches would come together for prayer on Sunday 19th November, at 3 p.m., in the Dutch Reformed Church.
Those involved in the prayer groups would probably be involved in the follow-ups.

Music (Annemarie Rohrs)
Various churches have been spoken to and are getting together at the Christian Centre on Monday 6th November at 5 - 6 p.m.
Rev. Xaba to contact the black churches - need their music leaders to attend this meeting. Unfortunately numbers of those taking part will have to be limited, and not every music member of a church will be able to take part.
Serious commitment to practices is a necessity.

Campaigning (Annemarie Rohrs)
We all can campaign - right where we are - in our Cell Groups, to our fellow-workers and friends.
For those that would like one or two of the campaigners to come and talk to their Cell Group, workers etc. please contact Annemarie.
Wiseman, from Ladysmith, is especially gifted in ministering to others and leading them into a deeper relationship with the Lord, and is prepared to talk to workers and groups. Alec Rohrs will arrange this for those that are interested, and can be contacted at 036-3521091.
We need to prepare the soil "before" Angus comes.

Farmers (Shaun Renton)
Various farmers have been contacted.

Schools (Francis Zungu)
Francis to liaise with Ruth Green.
Contacts needed in all schools.

Factories (Willie du Toit)

Advertising (Ian Wood & Celia Joyner)
The Project Board would be available early next week.
A write-up had been put in the local paper, and an advertisement for the meeting under the "What's On" column.
The library had been approached to keep Angus' book and would be getting two copies in from their suppliers.
We are on Internet - thanks to Jeff Oliver !!! http://estcourt.faithweb.com/
It is a very busy website and has had 162 visitors to date. Jeff will continue adding and updating - BUT - he needs our input !! The site can only be as good as the information he is given. Jeff intends adding a box in his Guestbook where people can offer to help on team.
It was decided to put the Minutes of the Meetings onto this site.
A logo would be thought of and presented at the next meeting.
Pamphlets would be needed for handing out at factories, schools etc.
Personal Invites could be given to businesses to put in with their customers purchases.
Badges will be needed.

Businessmen and businesses (Eddie Loubser)
Eddie is thinking of stepping down.
Bernard Kriel offered his services.
Koos Lombards name was put forward as a possibility.
The businessmen already get together monthly for prayer.

Ushers and "Henchmen" (Owen Moor)
Churches have been approached to provide names.
Women are also welcome to work here.

Security and Parking
Could be combined with Ushers and "Henchmen"

Finances and Fundraising (Wyan Moolman)
R100 raised to date by Ada McEwan in a cakeless cakesale. The idea is instead of baking a cake, to rather donate money. Ada, being new to Estcourt, doesn't know many people, and would really like names of those willing to not bake a cake but donate - any amount.
She can be contacted by phoning 036-3526733.
Ian Eden to be contacted - he has a lot of information in the finance and fundraising department, having dealt with it for the Barry Moore Crusade.
Churches need to be contacted to ask for donations.
A rough budget has been put at R100 000.
We have already had a lot of expenses with the printing of minutes, forms etc.
It was decided to write up a needs list (paper, poster-paper, banner material etc.) which could be given to the various congregations asking for donations.

M.C's (Ian Eden could tie this together)

ACCOMMODATION: There are likely to be those that travel a distance for the campaign and are looking for accommodation for one or more nights.
If the Shalom Youth come up prior to the campaign, to help with putting up posters and campaigning, they will also need accommodation.
Merle Vollebregt has offered a room when needed.

MEDICAL STANDBY: Barry Erxleben agreed to contact Robin Hunter-Smith.

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, 28th November 2000, at 6 p.m.

Rev. Cynthia Xaba invited a group to the Methodist Circuit Quarterly Meeting on Saturday the
4th November, at 10 a.m., to address the leaders.

Everyone was asked to collect their Minutes of the Meeting at Estcourt Butchery, 137 Albert Street, these would be available at the beginning of next week.

Trevor Joyner challenged all Fellowship / Cell Groups to get involved - 100% of their Fellowship Group was at this meeting. (All 6 of them !!!) So come on all you Fellowship Groups - Where are you ???
