Where it began
Barry Erxleben a member of the Estcourt Methodist Church attended a rally that Angus was running in Winterton, a small town nearby. He was greatly inspired by this rally and sounded out the locals to try and have something similar in Estcourt. A team of community members visited Angus Buchan at "Shalom" and asked him to come to ESTCOURT and run a campaign in our area. Angus was high spirited about this and very excited at the prospect.

What happened next . . .
The team came back from "Shalom" all eager and enthusiastic - but once home the doubts started creeping in when we thought of the magnitude of the campaign, the money that was going to have to be raised, the people that were going to have to be inspired to do all the work. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW UNTIL
YOU HAVE TRIED

"-- stir up the gift of God which is in thee."
II Tim. 1 : 6 AV

Few people live to the maximum of their potential. They instinctively feel that they are capable of achieving more than they are doing at the moment but lack the motivating power to reach their goal. There are many reasons for this unhappy situation, not least is laziness and submission to the present providing it remains undemanding.

If you feel the challenge to a new way of life the decision of how you will respond rests entirely with you. You may examine the challenge then, overcome by inertia, return to your old way of living with numerous excuses. What you need is an honest examination of how much you really want to do certain things. When a challenge is presented it will appear too great for you to handle, otherwise it would not be a challenge! You may evewn experience momentary fear but remember it is better to have tried and failed than not to have tried.

For a positive and practising Christian every challenge must be seen in the light of the Master's Will. If you believe that you are doing His Will you will have tremendous spiritual reserves upon which to draw, and you can attempt anything with confidence, knowing that the Living Christ will supply the motivation and energy for you to achieve the goal He has set before you.
An added bonus is that you do not fail but gather experience from every situation. It is entirely a matter of attitude.
